Principal's Message

January 11, 2018

Dear Park School Families,

Happy 2018! It was wonderful to see our school community come back together again on Tuesday. Your children’s sweet faces always make me smile. Even though it can be chilly outside I love going out on the playground with them a few times a week during lunch. They are full of joy running around the playground with their friends.

Many thanks to those who have expressed interest in getting our garden program up and running! It is very exciting to see this project come together. Starting a school garden is somewhat like a modern barn raising, calling on the participation and talents of many to create our outdoor classroom and edible garden. We will be holding a meeting Wednesday, January 17th at 8:30am to plan out the next steps in this project. It will be in Room 25. I look forward to seeing those of you who are interested in helping with this project at our first garden meeting that Lisa Warren, our garden coordinator, will be facilitating. Lisa is a Kindergarten and Preschool mom here at Park School and we are so fortunate that she is leading this incredible project.

Upcoming Events:

·Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday – Monday, January 15th – NO SCHOOL

·School Garden Meeting – Wednesday, January 17th at 8:30am in Room 25

·PTA Meeting – Thursday, January 25th from 6:00 – 7:30pm in the Library

·ELAC Meetings – Thursday, February 1st from 6:00 – 7:30pm in the Library

Next Monday, January 15th we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a holiday. Here is an inspiring quote written by Dr. King: “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” He certainly taught us to respect one another, help others, and to never give up on your dreams.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Haley :)
