The purpose of PBIS is to establish clear expectations and to encourage a sense of community in which we all play a positive role in our school’s success and safety. This school-wide program utilizes proactive strategies in defining and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create a positive school environment. PBIS places a heavy emphasis on positive behavior reinforcement. Outlining behavioral expectations and high levels of clarity and consistency support students, families and the whole school community.
We are working on creating an inclusive, safe, welcoming and caring environment which values and recognizes each individual at our school. We know schools are most successful when they help children grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
The teaching staff worked together to define school-wide appropriate behaviors and created positive reinforcements that are implemented school-wide. When the students are caught being safe, being respectful, or being responsible, they are given a 'Paw'some award. All 'Paw'some awards are turned into the teacher and then once a week a student in every classroom is recognized by having their name announced over the loudspeaker. The students look forward to this celebration every week and work hard to earn their 'Paw'some awards.
